Light Within #1
This drawing marks the beginning of my journey as an artist. On one ordinary day back in 2005 while I was mindlessly browsing through the art section of a local used book store, I came across the book, "Drawing the Light from Within: Keys to Awaken Your Creative Power (1997)”. I remember something intrigued me when I looked at the cover, so I bought the book for $8.19.
I followed one of the exercises in the book and to my surprise this image appeared. I thought the image was uniquely beautiful, mystical and powerful. What captured my heart was that the image was such a strong contrast from the vulnerable and weakened state I was in physically, emotionally, and spiritually at that time. I welcomed the newly discovered awareness that in order for a form to exist, it needs both light and darkness. I think the process of creating this art piece gave me permission to exist in this world as who I am (form). It reminded me that my existing struggles (darkness) were needed to acknowledge who I was which in turn gave me hope (light) for the future.

Light Within #3
This is the third image in the Inner Light series.
The intention was to explore the abundance within. It was an uplifting and magical experience to draw the flowing movement and complex images.
I hold a renewed sense of gratitude for a great teacher, Judith Cornell, who authored this book. I cherish the opportunities I had to study with Judy at her Mandala Healing Art Retreat in Northern California a few years after I discover her book. Thank you, Judy.
